Pattern Design Layouts and Fixes for Common Issues

Hello Reader,

When designing a pattern design, it can be really frustrating when the layout isn't quite working or when you're close to finishing a pattern only to discover that you can see some obvious holes and gaps.....eeek!

In my latest blog post, I discuss the most common layouts used by surface pattern designers as well as some fixes for common problems and how to solve them.

You'll learn:

  • common layouts used by surface pattern designers
  • why the most common layout is the 'tossed/ random' layout and how it can help you when designing a pattern that just won't fit with the other layouts
  • what questions you should be asking yourself when you've finished a pattern
  • what to do when you can see obvious holes or gaps
  • fixes for common problems
