How to Use Your Time Effectively by Planning Ahead

Hello Reader,

Time is something that is precious to us creatives and planning out how you'll spend your time is just another task on our to do list! I don't know about you, but I always feel like I'm playing 'catch up' and trying to get yesterday's tasks done today that I didn't get around to.....

Until that is that I started planning out my month and week with my most important and urgent tasks. Just this simple technique of planning out my time has helped to keep me on track even when life gets in the way. You're able to see at a glance what tasks MUST get done, so you'll able to focus your efforts on what really matters in your creative career, in order to reach those big goals!

In this week's blog post I'm discussing the importance of using your time effectively as a creative. There's only so much time in the day and when you factor in children, family, other work commitments, house chores, errands, medical appointments and so on, you have a million things on your 'to do' list which you know only a few of them you'll actually get ticked off!

In the blog post I discuss the technique of 'batching' which means to concentrate on just ONE task at a time. Because you're concentrating on just one thing, your focus and attention are greatly increased, meaning you get so much more done in your allotted time frame.

In the blog post I discuss:

  • how to plan out your month with the most important tasks
  • how to see where you're spending your time
  • the importance of writing down your most urgent tasks first when planning
  • how to use your monthly plan to transfer to your weekly plan
  • the importance of planning out your month and week ahead

To accompany the blog post, I created a FREE pdf downloadable just for you! It features both monthly, weekly and hourly planner sheets in a colourful style and a less colourful style, so pick whichever style speaks to you :)

Nicola
